i am so annoyed.
my playlist sucks. for some reason, the shitty music far outnumbers the good music. today alone i had to skip a few billion unfinished tracks on my ipod (well ok maybe not a few billion, i dont have a 20gig ipod like jovann) because my eardrums were about to meltdown from the strain. and it’s not even nice strain or anything.
recommendations, please!!! save my ears. save my belief in the fact that there is actually good music in this world. save my ipod. save ME. i listen to a fairly wide range of stuff, so really, i’m not that hard to please. the only one thing i can’t stand is Kylie Minogue, so please dont recommend any of her tracks or i will kill you.
oh and Chinese New Year music too. please, for the love of God, don’t. just. don’t.
my recommendations!
Josh Rouse - Sparrows Over Birmingham
a very mellow song — minimal guitar accompaniment, mostly vocals, with lyrics that completely dont make sense at all. in a weird kinda way. this is for you if you like Ben Harper and Damien Rice’s acoustic songs.
Fefe Dobson - Everything
nice pop song! she sounds exactly like Bachelor Girl. yes, that’s the girl who sang about getting hit by buses and trains, and then likened it to love.
South - Paint The Silence
addictive! husky vocals, very indie-rockish.
Eva Cassidy - Songbird
oooooh i love this song. perfect candlelight music. guys, if you’re planning to do the whole lights-dimmed + slow dance thing in your living room with your girl, USE THIS SONG.
Joseph Arthur - In The Sun
for you if you like John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Lifehouse, Switchfoot. rich, acoustic, soulful stuff.
Jack’s Mannequin - Dark Blue
punkish poppish rock. think Blink 182, Something Corporate. also check out Kill the Messenger by the same band!
Powderfinger - My Happiness
i recently managed to find the title for this old favourite, and i was so elated!! it’s an awesome song. get this one if you’re a fan of Oasis and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Matt Pond PA - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
they owned the version by Neutral Milk Hotel! i dont really know how to describe their sound, but um, they are less whiny compared to NMH, and they’ve got a violin! their songs have a sorta melancholic tone, very GardenState-esque, good for chillout days or reflective long drives to nowhere .. :D
Iron and Wine - Such Great Heights
speaking of Garden State :D this song rockskskskkssks so much, i like it even more than the original version from The Postal Service! it takes some getting used to, though. also check out the lyrics. so sweet :)
Strays Don’t Sleep - For Blue Skies
if you liked the above two songs, you’ll like this one. reallllllllyyy slow moving, dont listen to it if you’re looking for something upbeat. this one is like The Shins meets The Nothing Song by Sigur Ros.
Canon In D : Electric Guitar Version
i saved the best for last :) if you play the piano/violin or just like classical orchestra-type music, you will definitely know this song. originally composed by Pachelbel, this version is done by JerryC. it is some awesome shit. i’m almost inspired to pick up an electric guitar and start jamming this song. almost. :D you can download it here.
now, your turn!!!

Hey, if you’re at a stalemate when it comes to finding more stuff you like, go use http://www.pandora.com. The best place ever for times when you’re sick of the stuff in your computer. The website basically creates a radio station specially customized for your musical palate on the spot based on what feedback you give it: names of songs or artistes you enjoy.
But anyway, even after saying all that I will give my recommendations anyway because I sibok : D
Death Cab For Cutie- What Sarah Said
Death Cab For Cutie- Brothers on a Hotel Bed
SR71- Let It Whip
The Shins- Pink Bullets
Third Eye Blind- Losing A Whole Year
Billy Talent- Line and Sinker
Evan Olson- Tin Man
Anberlin- Paperthin Hymn
Michael Tolcher- Taxi Ride Kinda Night
Most of them are alt/prog rock so don’t worry : D (except for the Michael Tolcher one which is more funky/bluesy like Joss Stone’s stuff). No uber-jiwang Top 40 crap.

Right now, my current muse in music is sims 2 music, or muzak. From refreshing bright and sunny tracks to cool jazz to addictive electronic dance. I especially like the music in the ‘buy’ and ‘build’ modes. I highly recommend them, if youre interested in non-vocals.
To extract the files, dld this program. http://sims.ambertation.de/en/download/realdownload/
Install theprogram. Use it to open the dir: Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2/University/Nightlife\TSData\Res\Sound
inside you’ll find sound packages grouped into various genres. Extract them and enjoy.
