Why You So Like That

April 4th, 2006

so the front page of The Star today screamed at me ‘BITTER THAI POLLS’ in huge black print when i stumbled groggily out of my room in the morning. oh fckshit! i was awake in an instant. a quick scan down the bottom of the article informed of bombings in the south that wounded some people (but thankfully no casualties), and that there was likely to be some boycotting and political unrest throughout the nation if Thaksin won the elections.

maaaaaaaaaan.

i could FEEL the sneer in between the lines of my dad’s sms even before it arrived.

yes lah daddy you very smart.

so because i have a paranoid father, my 2week-long trip to Koh Samui and Bangkok this Thursday has been canceled. i totally saw this coming. even if the elections were conducted safely (actually they were very safe, the south of Thailand has been having bombings since forever, and BANGKOK IS NOT IN THE SOUTH) my dad wouldnt have let me gone. cos he is so mean like that. as i type this he is now in Vegas having the time of his life with the roulette and showgirls.

(if you know my mother, you will know that she is more jealous about the former than the latter. heeheehee.)

so i am going to be so free for the next 2 weeks. faster, who wants to date me?! i’m totally open as long i get to pick the restaurant, and if you will agree with me that Ice Age 2 was a complete and total letdown.

hey, you guys want a laugh? open up this month’s Cleo mag and check out the 50 Most Eligible Bachelors 2006 article. last year in the interviews they asked the men what a ‘decolletage’ was. some of the answers were so damn funny i almost choked up my gall bladder laughing. this year, the question is ‘what is a antimacassar?’ and then there’s this one : ‘a wife beater is ..’

come, lemme tell you some of their answers.

‘A Wife-beater is …’
#7 Azwin Andy : A seriously sick loser
#12 Fairil Emran : Somebody who should get imprisoned for life
#13 Quinten Wong : The spawn of Satan
#15 Rajpal Singh Ghai : Someone who should be incarcerated
#18 Sathia Nadarajah : Someone who needs rehabilitation
#21 Ashraf Sinclair : A coward who needs to belittle others to make himself feel bigger
#37 Joseph Aaron : One hell of a sick guy
#39 Tan Chung Liang : Not worth writing about
#43 Steven Raj : Going to hell

… haih, men ah, i tell you.

THIS is a wifebeater :

a wifebeater is a singlet!!! everybody, vote #30 Laveen Bala as your next Cleo Eligible Bachelor 2006 because he was the only person to get it right.

the next question : What is an Antimacassar?
#2 Andrew Westwood : I’m sure it has something to do with women!
#8 Lincoln Liew : Something that destroys Macassar?
#11 Adam Carruthers : A dish?
#23 Nazril Idrus : Mascara that never runs even when she’s standing in the rain?
#25 Stephan Cieplik : I think it means ‘to be fooled’!
#27 Mohd Ashraf Muslim : A person who looks good?
#28 Edwin Raj : Anti-Caesar from Madagascar. I dunno man!
#29 Jeremy Little : Someone against Macassarians?
#31 Szetho Wei Shen : When a girl forgets to bring her mascara on a date?
#36 Gen Tang : Someone who doesnt like to do the macarena?
#41 Asun Entaban : A medical operation related to the eyes?
#44 Suren Kari : A complicated chemical used by women to remove make up?

dont you just love how almost all of the answers have a question mark at the end?! hahahaa!

an antimacassar is the cloth some people place on the back of sofas or chairs. i know, totally random. but completely nothing to do with mascara or the Indonesian province of Makkasar, i assure you.

OKAY LAH OKAY LAH actually i didnt know what an antimacassar was also. but but but at least i know what a wifebeater is … :(

i suddenly wanna drink bubble tea. honey peach flava!

macassar is some type of icky ancient hair oil. antimacassars are to prevent the oil from staining the sofa headrests whenever women wearing the icky hair oil sat down. random info i learned from my eng teacher years ago. gross right?

    *laughs at szetho*

  • 11. sinta  |  April 4th, 2006 at 5:36 pm

I knew what a wife-beater was but not the Antimacassar. ^_^ LOL! Why not visit another country during your 2 week holiday? :) Perhaps Australia? Or go shopping in hong kong? *envy*

archangel : nero vivo at jalan ceylon!!

bulat : haha there were one or two super cute ones ..!

johann : yay! which shall it be, lygon street or max brenner, or BOTH, my dearest future husband?

chin kian : i was planning to go alone .. :D my other 17 yr old friends are either too broke, have college, or are unable to obtain parental consent. as for the sampan offer, oh i couldnt possibly take you up on that .. it’s too extravagant of you! you spoil me so!

reallybites : YEAAA i wanna go penang. waiting for my friend to finish his Alvls so we can go on a peninsular malaysia roadtrip. haih. a couple more months to go. and yea was going to go to koh samui alone, get diving license then meet up with my friends at bkk for the songkran festival :) eh how can gubra not be on the website? i already got my tickets.. but i din buy thru the website ler

li shun : YES CALL HER!

emily t : pedal pusher?! eh not the decolletage meh?! haha oh man that must have been 2003 or 2004 or something..

sarah : your english teacher is a very learned one :D hey browsing thru your blog linklist, we seem to know a LOT of the same people .. and i mean a lot …..

sinta : i just did hong kong, and was thinking australia in the winter so it would be a tad too early for that now! i still REALLY want to go to thailand, so it’s best not to jeopardise my chances of that by jetting off somewhere else right now. my dad may throttle me :D

secret admirer : ice age 2 was nottt amusing! well maybe some parts. but not all. they completely butchered the shorts with the obsessive squirrel and his acorn! and by chatterbox you mean the tagboard thingy? nope not planning to. why do you ask?

zen : yes, do :) it’s gotten better from previous years.

    omg where is that =X

  • 16. jeremy  |  April 5th, 2006 at 4:03 am

lol. in their defense, the stereotypical wife beater does wear wife-beaters - thus the confusion. but spouting those statements like ‘the spawn of satan’?? awesome way to get the sensitive-man vote. haha.

  • 17. sarah  |  April 5th, 2006 at 3:05 pm

hahah. small world. i think most of the connections are through ezra and theo =)

  • 18. pinkpau  |  April 5th, 2006 at 11:44 pm

archangel : in bukit bintang .. haha

jeremy : haha wifebeaters wearing wifebeaters has nothing to do with it! they just arent fashion savvy .. :D

sarah : nah .. cos an ex bf used to go to BGC :) so i know like half your list thru that church, and the other half i met at Brats. heh!
