Bombs and Sanitary Pad Theft

i am back in the dusty city of Colombo!
i’m back here cos 3 hours from now i’m supposed to be heading to the Sri Lanka International Airport to catch my flight back home without the parentals. but NO! that is no longer happening! cos on the way back down from the hills of Kandy, my daddy gets a delayed text mssg saying that his daughter has been pulled off the waiting list for Thursday’s flight. sooooo, she can return home with her mummy and daddy on Thursday as originally planned, and not on Wednesday morning as now planned!
that means we totally left Kandy in a total rush for totally nothing! this is total crap! i wanna see the Kandy Esala Perahara parade! i wanna go to the Kandy Temple of the Sacred Tooth! i want more free ice cream! iiiiiiiiiiii want KAAAAAANDY!

anyways, upon reaching Colombo, my mom and i wanted to go around the city looking for shopping-worthy places. ahh but the driver whose three-wheeler we got in insisted we should go back to the hotel becauseeeeeee … a car bomb just went off down the road from our hotel, killing 2 people and injuring several others.

we asked him where exactly, and when he told us where, my mom just started freaking out cos we were *right there* during our 2nd day in Colombo. naturally she wanted to go back to the hotel, but i REALLY wanted to go to the bombsite to see what was going on. you know, check out the chaos and all. but i understand my mom’s sentiments. and i also understand them placing me on hotelroom arrest for the next two days :( sigh!
in other news, i have just experienced my first holiday theft case! see, i’d just went to the mall next to my hotel ok? so there was this cool bookstore that sold books at like really cheap prices! i bought two classics - Nat Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter and J.D Salinger’s Catcher In The Rye. then i went to the supermarket and got sanitary pads (they have Whisper here! thank you Lord!) and chocopies. then i went back to the hotel and discovered i didnt have a roomkey. then i left the bags with my books and pads and chocopies on the floor next to my room and went to the lobby to get a key. then i come back and and and and and
MY BOOKS AND PADS AND CHOCOPIES ARE GONE!!! =(
it was just 3 minutes man, i swear it. and okay la i understand if they want my books cos they are such good books. and yes chocopies are to die for so it’s acceptable to steal those. but sanitary pads??? WHY???
oh mein chocopies. dont fret, i will buy you again tomorrow!

Maybe the thief was *that* smitten with you he’d take anything :D
That’s really scary, the car bomb. Good thing you were still inside the hotel when it went off.

will be praying for the safety of you and yours. get back in one piece (newspapers are reporting heaviest fighting in sri lanka in years!). p/s holiday theft sux. sorry to hear about that … jst be more careful next time pinks. thank God the stuff missing are replaceable.

Cannot! come back faster. So chaotic and dangerous…!!! Actually if I were in your position, I also want to go kepoh at the bombsite a bit. Real life action packed story okay. Ok now, come back safely okay!

Hmm..I never liked those novels. I hated reading Catcher in the Rye in High School. They say that that with that novel, you love it or hate it. As for Hawthorne, i just hated the way he wrote. Some of my favorite novels (once that’s I’ve read over and over again and are considered classics) are 1984 (orwell), Brave New World (Huxley), The Great Gatsby and Metamorphphosis(Kafka).

umm.. maybe the person who stole it didn’t know they were pads?? It’s dangerous in Sri Lanka right now, so take care and if possible, stay away from crowded places.

wah… so very the kesian ur stuffs gone… whats even MORE kesian is that you have to endure your monthly thingy on such a pleasant vacation of all times… guess at times like this it must really suck being a girl huh? =Þ But nonetheless… that shouldn’t stop u from having fun while u’re away from your usual life… GO WILD!

Adoi… pinks, you can get that chocopie in M’sia wei. Lotte has a shop in Hartamas and I think Cold Storage sells that too. but omg… isn’t it the bomb!? I like the marshmallow in between the whatever you call that. Cake? but it can be too sweet for my liking at times. still good :D
