Sleepless in Patong

February 25th, 2007

5 hours after my last post, my boredom tolerance hit rock bottom. the frustration was simply unbearable, and there was no question about it - i HAD to leave Phuket immediately. so upon rightful repossession of my passport from my mother dearest, i left for the airport with nary but a pink backpack full of magazines i nicked from the hotel and a Balinese handbag with entirely too many packets of Mentos gum. i arrived at the airport within one hour, lacking sleep, full of hope, and mumbling excitedly to myself, ‘Kuala Lumpur, here i come!’ but this excitement was fairly shortlived; the excessively made-up woman behind the ticketing counter dealt me a devastating blow - all flights out to KL were full. what the flying fuck, said i. kidding me you must be. i assure you i am not, said she. next please.

i dont know why i did it, but i did it : i went back in queue, only to be served by a nice portly gentleman this time. he gave me the same answer as the lady with the horrific purple eyeshadow, but with a twist! apparently Malaysia Airlines had a joint flight with Thai Airways out to KL in a few hours - and while the Thai Airways seats were all taken up, Malaysia Airlines still had a few seats available. WONDERMOUS!, i exclaimed, nearly toppling over a stack of Visit Thailand brochures on the counter in my ecstacy. ONE TICKET PLEASE, LIKE, NOW.

i dont think i’ve ever loved MAS more in my life.

so yes, i have indeed been back home for a glorious full 3 days. there is nothing like CNY back home. i love it i love it i love it. father dearest, i beseech thee, never take me away from KL again during CNY =(
