My First Birthday Gift This Year

my birthday is coming up in a couple of days, and last night my mother came into my room, announcing that she wanted to give me my birthday gift early.
presents!!! exciting!!!
the conversation went as follows :
mom : so you’re turning 19 this year, your last year of teenagehood. no more a baby yea?
me : ya! *impatient
mom : so i want to give you something memorable.
me : ya okay! *impatient
mom : eh but you dont take a photo of it lah okay
me : okay okay i wont. but why?
mom : aiyah just dont lah. *looks at my earrings* eh are those earrings real?
me : (OOOOOH SHE GOT ME EARRINGS!) no they’re costume! why? did you get me earrings!!!
mom : no lah, what i got you has to be worn on a necklace. hey where’s your necklace?
me : it broke a few months ago. oh you got me a pendant? REALLY? CAN I SEE?
mom : no necklace then how to wear? aiyah how like this.
me : nevermind nevermind can wear wan. can i see?? *impatient
mom : you close your eyes first!
me : what the…………
mom : FASTER CLOSE!
me : dont want!
mom : CLOSE or you dont get your gift!
me : okay ah but you dont give me lizard (hahahaha long story, people, long story)
*closes eyes*
mom : NAH. HEEHEEEHEE.

then she ran out the room laughing. why is my mother like that. why =( dear god, will i be like this when i grow up? will i play such cruel jokes on my firstborn? will i be weird??? all those inheritance classes in Biology are coming back to haunt me. que sera, sera.

mother, even though you always steal my shoes and wear them all out; even though you can be the world’s most cheong hei person and scold us till we cry; even though your cooking really cannot make it; even though you never once came for our report card day, and even though you left us alone for almost all of our lives, it is moments like this that i love you sooooooooooooooooooooo much.
