How Could They

September 23rd, 2008

even though i am far away from home, there is great sorrow in my heart today.

Raja Petra Kamaruddin has just been sent to Kamunting to begin his 2-year detention under the ISA, a period which can be indefinitely renewed at the arbitrary wish of the government.

i hope and pray for big waves of change in malaysia to come soon. they cannot bully us like this.

  • 5. thegeekinpink  |  September 23rd, 2008 at 3:08 am

I’ve just written a long letter to him, expressing my support. Hopefully others will do the same, that he’ll know we’re supporting him. I am so speechless by the blatant abuse of basic human right our government snatched him of.

Now we wait for the “negotiations” to come through… may Sept 23 make history.

Well, if its any consolation, I do respect RPK for sticking to his guns. We live in interesting times.

On Anwar, I’m not sure I want him to be PM either.

maybe not useful or too late (you may say), but we want to show them tat the RAKYAT want the stupid G or B or A to release all the ISA detainees.

I saw it on the evening news today.

why are the government doing things that make them seem stupid, arrogant, dictatorial and EVIL? Don’t they want to stay in power anymore?

Like that Ahmad Ismail - talking crap about a certain race who makes up a significant bulk of voters in his state. that’s not even racist anymore. that’s just mindbogglingly stupid. and the whole ruling party seem to be trying harder to do more of those things which lost them 2/3 majority in the 1st place.

I’m going someday this week to the post office to register myself as a voter :) I guess both of us (and most of ur readers) will vote in the next GE, huh :)

  • 19. ckw  |  September 23rd, 2008 at 4:39 pm

    it’s just so ironic…

it took them so long to decide on Ahmad although he openly did it, and admitted…

  • 21. amran  |  September 23rd, 2008 at 4:49 pm

not to be mean or anything…i think he deserves to be put in jail. i haven’t read his blogs but i would like to presume he said many negative things about the country and the government.
i think he should turn on a new leaf in jail and start to blog about the good things the government has done for the country. he should just focus on the good instead.

he attracted this outcome (jail time) into his life. if he focused on positivity and being grateful (like su-ann) his life would be different. see su ann received so many gifts in her mail!! :D write positively and you’ll get rewarded positively!

  • 22. Charlie  |  September 23rd, 2008 at 6:10 pm

I don’t even know what to say. : | This is fucking beyond disgusting.

  • 23. DjdRifT  |  September 23rd, 2008 at 6:16 pm

That amran is seriously an idiot. What does he mean by he deserves it? I don’t think anyone should deserve a punishment which can be indefinitely renewed at the arbitrary wish of the government. Stupid bastard

  • 24. amran  |  September 23rd, 2008 at 7:17 pm

i am sorry for being ignorant. i really don’t know what he did to deserve that long sentence. 2 years is a long time for something trivial.. he must have done some pretty heavy damage to national security / someones image or ego to receive that 2 year jail term. that was what i was trying to get at.

i absolutely don’t know anything about him or his blog posts. i am sorry if my comments offended anyone.

  • 25. Snow white  |  September 23rd, 2008 at 8:18 pm

Who is the hell of this fu*king Amran?? Tell him to keep his big mouth shut and stop giving comments if he know nothing and not even reading Raja’s blog!! idiot!!

Raja saying something negative of the government and country? Smart people like us know that Raja is just revealing the inside, the darkside, the truth of this stupid government….

Malaysia is a great country to live, but so sad that we are going down the drain with the management of all these rubbish & selfish leaders who did so fu*ing lots of silly things, not admiting and yet tried so hard to cover it with the mis-use of ISA….now even target the democracy of blogger space!

Sad…sad…sad! Our country is going down the drain..! sob…sob..Su Ann, say something….

  • 26. sheon  |  September 23rd, 2008 at 9:14 pm

how could they, you ask??……they just did. there, a slap in your face or not?

this is boleh-land. what they say is law, and they are well above the law.

  • 27. anon  |  September 23rd, 2008 at 9:24 pm

i feel extremely sorry for amran’s ignorance….your world must be pretty blissful, though, im not envious in any way.
perhaps get ur facts straight before commenting then, instead of simply apologising for your ignorance. ’sorry’ does not cure everything.
the negative (and terrible) things done by them VERY MUCH outweighs any good and we need ppl like RPK to set the record straight.

  • 28. lu  |  September 23rd, 2008 at 10:01 pm

hi amran, dun mean to be rude but tat paricular comment from u really dead shocking of how u manage to post a comment on pinkpau blog regarding social issues, while showing SO IGNORANT +NO interest AT ALL to find out the basic info abt ISA n WHY a 60+ man ended up in Kamunting as a security threat bcoz of his MSM-so-called-u-so-believed “dangerous” articles

an advise to u, being a grown up, if u 1 2 stay put as a happy ignorant fool, pls avoid commenting. if u cant help but so wish to type sumthing, at least show some efforts to reduce ur ignorant level, READ n KNOW b4 even start thinking.

be positive mean creating +ve NOT avoiding -ve but beating it

    ====
pinkpau, i appreciate dis very much, u write wat u feel strongly, which is the very purpose of writing. if dis is to compound into a book, it speaks abt a msian gal wif background NOT a bimbo toking abt wat she bought how she walk where she shop

    Su Ann,
    you are great.
ya they can’t bully us like this.
people around me have been telling me that they wanna migrate.
and my mum has been asking me to leave this country a.s.a.p
there’s no more reason and quality of life for us to live here.

  • 30. Kevin Chan  |  September 24th, 2008 at 12:09 am

Praying for things to get better too.

You may not know this, but seeing you speaking up on matters like this really is refreshing. We need more young people who dare to speak up on such all this injustice we have here in Malaysia.

It’s just so sickening hearing all this apathy and all the ‘let the opposition just do something about it’. Why can’t more Malaysians see that this is OUR country and the ISA is OUR problem.

Just hope that the situation improves. You just keep on doing what you are doing and inspire your readers to speak up against all this bullshit!

And of course, take care where you are in the States!

Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar confirmed he had signed the detention order as he was satisfied with the reasons given.

“The two-year detention is due to Raja Petra’s articles that ridiculed Islam and which could arouse anger among Muslims.

Syed Hamid, however, said there would be a review after three months.

“We will see Raja Petra’s attitude in detention and decide whether he can be released or not. A second review would be after six months,” he said.

    ——————————————————————

Mohamad Faiq bin Hafidh, who has been detained since January 2002, described the events of December 8 and 9, 2004, in Kamunting Detention Center. He wrote:

I was handcuffed . . . and my head was pushed down to waist level. My head was struck with a baton and my eye was hit, injuring it. When I reached room seven of [the cell block], I was continuously beaten and then forced to strip naked, ordered to crawl while entering the room and then my buttocks were kicked and that was how I stumbled inside, naked.

    ——————————————————————

“Review” ? More like torture. Hopefully they have changed their ways since 2004… ><

  • 34. shereen  |  September 25th, 2008 at 3:29 am

I regretted for not staying back after finishing my studies at Australia. I was there for 3 years and when I came back, I was questioned by friends, family members and even my current boss why did I choose to come back! and I thought hey, this is my country, Im sure there’s something good about this place. and here I am, after 1 year, regretting…

    this is a total disappointment!!!

  • 35. yx  |  September 27th, 2008 at 4:59 am

Amran, you claim that he you think he deserves it but yet you openly admit that you know nothing about this? please, dont make any comments when you know nothing. feel free to ask what its about, but not criticise a 58 year old man who sacrificed his freedom so that malaysia can know the truth of the dark secrets of the government!
