Quickie

October 12th, 2008

hello all! i’m writing this from the library. i’m supposed to be studying for my midterms next week, but i’m excited about a lot of things that dont concern Italian verb conjugations and Hubble’s Law, and so my thoughts keep drifting. i cant wait for midterms to be over so that i can let my thoughts drift without feeling guilty and working out in my head how many hours of sleep i have to sacrifice tonight to make up for the day’s daydreaming!

i feel happy lately. stressed, sure, but i’ve been managing my time better, so i kind of feel a little bit more in control recently. but that doesnt have anything to do with my current happy self; instead, my newfound happiness stems from a small understanding of life and growing up that i’ve chanced upon. a kind of semi-nirvanic comprehension, if you will. i’m learning that my priorities can change and that can sometimes be a good thing. i’m discovering that something is not everything, and everything is oftentimes not what it looks like. i’m remembering to enjoy myself. what was previously stress and caffeine-induced sleeplessness is now a warped kind of excitement that feeds an inherent hunger to learn.

the library lounge is abuzz with activity on a sunday evening. i met someone cool today. i was overcharged for a tuna salad sandwich again. maureen, the girl who lives in the dorm room next to mine, has the most delightful watermelon-scented air freshener. i finally had krispy kreme this morning. actually, i had two, and i am a little bit anxious to get back to my room to have my third. i’m really excited to meet up with kiasu andrew and wai kin later tonight. over the past week, i watched Eagle Eye, Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist and the latest DiCaprio movie, Body of Lies – i absolutely loved Eagle Eye, Nick & Norah’s was disappointing, and Body of Lies is now one of my favorite post-911 movies. i wish i’d learned of three-ring binders before i bought all these notebooks that i now no longer want to use. i’m thinking of throwing a halloween party! and the bubble tea at Cafe East, as well as the elevator being on the ground floor as i walk into my residence hall, are two small but big things that make my day, every single day.

hey, red bull didn't help me also! But , one of my lecturers told me Cola helped (because of the sugar , red bull do had a lot of sugar as well) and i tried! it works really well for many years now and days when i had a late night and had an important examination, i just buy a bottle of cola ( the small one) and ta-da, i'm ready for the examination! :)

The Redbull in Malaysia is different it's very syrupy and sweet, try the one in US, if it's anything like the one in UK it's delicious. Especially with vodka :D

your 'excitement that feeds an inherent hunger to learn' is not warped. instead it is your soul calling out crystal clear in enthusiasm and awareness. i would be happy to note this as a sign of your coming-of-age in your intellectual pursuit…. :))

Oh I just did a case study on Red Bull. One can (250ml) has less caffeine than a cup of Starbucks coffee.

No, I didn't have a chance to move out on my own. My hostel room, you see, has no window. So damn stressful lah. I dislike my hostel a lot but it doesn't mean i love moving at this time of the year. My finals are like 3 weeks away. Plus, my apartment still have some defects to be fixed. Omg, suann. I think i can die already.

    T_T

    Figuratively.
