US and the world would be doomed with Obama's lacking of experience and leadership skills :(
4. pinkpau | November 5th, 2008 at 9:47 am
i concur on the lack of experience (relative to McCain), but i wouldnt say obama has no leadership skills.. :) i think the big bad US needs a calm, cool, collected head like his in this time of war and instability. i would vote for obama on the basis of his foreign policy platform alone.
5. alvin | November 5th, 2008 at 10:15 am
people said exactly the same thing about Bill Clinton in 1993. =)
at the end of his 8 years reign, US has a budget surplus of $559 billion. Come this January when Bushie leaves, he's gonna leave a debt of almost 5 trillions for Obama/Mccain.
going from +559 to -5000, 2 wars, katrina, housing crisis and all the loves of Guatanamo Bay, that's what experiences get you :).
6. jane doe | November 5th, 2008 at 10:16 am
what time will the results be out?
7. oiyen | November 5th, 2008 at 10:18 am
US and the world will be doomed with McCain's us-versus-them approach to diplomacy and his continuation of Bush's policies.
Waaah beh tahan already…this is like March 8 again!

There will be setbacks, and false starts. There many who won't agree with every decision or policy I make as president. And we know the government can't solve ever problem. But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. Above all I will ask you to join in the work of remaking this nation, the only way it has been done in America for 221 years, block by block, brick by brick, callused hand by callused hand. What began 21 months ago, in the depths of winter, cannot end on this autumn night. This victory is alone not the change we seek. It is only the chance for us to make that change.
And that cannot happen we go back to the way things were. It can't happen without you. Without a new spirit of service, a new spirit of sacrifice. So let us summon a new spirit. Patriotism, responsibility, for each of us has to pitch in and work harder, and look not only for ourselves but each other, and let us remember that if this financial crisis taught us anything, it's that we cannot have a thriving wall street while main street suffers, in this country
we rise or fall as one nation, as one people. Let's resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship, pettyness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long.
Let's remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the republican party of the white house, the party founded on the values of self reliance, and individuality liberty and nation unity, those are the values we all share. While the democratic party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divide that has held back our progress. As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, we are not enemies, but friends. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. To those Americans who's support I have yet to earn, I may have not won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices. I need your help. And I will be your president too.
To all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments and palaces, those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of the world, our stories are singular but our destinies is shared. The new dawn of American leadership is at hand.
To those, to those who would tear the world down, we will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security, we support you. To all those who have wondered if America's beacon still burns as bright, tonight we prove once more, that the true strength of our nation comes not from the might of our arms or the scales of our wealth, but the enduring power of our ideals, democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope.

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.
It's the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches, numbers this nation has never seen, my people who waited 3hours, 4hours, many for the first time in their lives because they believe this time it must be different. That their voices could be that difference. It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, democrat and republican, Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not-disabled, Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been just a collection of individuals or a collection of red-states and blue-states, we are and always be the united states of America.
It's the answer, that led those who have been told for so long, by so many to be cynical, and fearful and doubtful about what we can achieve, to put their hands in the arc of history, and bend it once more towards the hope for a better day. It's been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America.

Just sharing Obama's victory speech. It's truly inspiring. ;_;
21. anonymous | November 5th, 2008 at 3:03 pm
You do know that Clinton is the cause of housing crisis. Read up. This happened because people with poor credit score got a loan due to Clinton signing a stupid bill in allowing the increment of the sub-prime.
Oh, dude, have you read obama's political positions? he's not going to change much. except maybe, no new wars. even that i have my doubt.
22. aunt | November 5th, 2008 at 3:04 pm
i love your banner, “Barack HUSSEIN Obama is the 44th President of the United States of America.” you are the first person (at least that i read in the internet) who uses the correct name for the president elect — the one word which rightly should be so insignificant in the election race and now rightly so significant in defining the true american spirit.
23. Sarah | November 5th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
yayyy!!!! go obama! :) change has come…yes we can! :) it must be so exciting to be in america now…
24. pinkpau | November 5th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
no new wars sounds pretty good to me :)
25. KY | November 5th, 2008 at 4:09 pm

26. Grouchy Smurf | November 5th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
if only the rest of the world can be as color blind….
27. lishun | November 5th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
change can be for the better or for the worse. we still don't know what an obama administration (so glad to not have to use the “b” word anymore!) will really mean for the non-american world. but i'm glad that americans have decided to make race a non-issue and have given their new president an extremely clear mandate to lead for the next 4 years. the trust given to president obama (no “b” word there either!) is overwhelming and i just hope he doesn't let his countrymen down.
28. yizhen | November 5th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
can't describe how i feel. yay for obama. :)))))) so touched i can cry.. but like he said, there's so much more work to be done.
sad and disappointed that more people voted Yes on Prop 8 though. :(
29. sheon | November 5th, 2008 at 5:43 pm
i totally support obama!!! i am as excited that he is elected….(ok..half as excited as the americans)…….but still pretty excited nonetheless.
while we're still being labeled as 'pendatangs'….and denied equal rights, the americans elected the 'son' of their slaves to be the president. it just shows how far ahead they are in terms of democracy.
hailf to the chief

32. no name troll | November 6th, 2008 at 2:19 am
Equal rights? You want to whine about equal rights?
what about equality of distribution of wealth, eh?
what about equality of job opportunity in the private sector?
Where are MY equal rights?
33. pinkpau | November 6th, 2008 at 2:52 am
i'm confused. are you a bumi? because if you are:
a) the NEP is ALL about distribution of wealth to bumis
b) the public sector is ALL about the distribution of jobs to bumis
34. Sofia | November 6th, 2008 at 3:14 am
With the chants of “yes we can” still resonating through the air.. Malaysians should ask “when can we?” :) x
35. MIchelle | November 6th, 2008 at 3:49 am

37. songjun | November 6th, 2008 at 7:00 am
after 200+++ years of 'democracy' , and only now having a black man as their president i hardly call that very far ahead lol
anyway, now no one can say “hey look, even america has no minority president”
America you're leading the way for world change, and the hope that someday the world will be once and for all, Color Blind.

40. sheon | November 6th, 2008 at 8:54 am
Private Sector is FULLY based on meritocracy, and meritocracy alone. Its level playing field.
Equal Wealth distribution?? you work-you get paid. what else do you want? that we hand over our money to you??
For the past 50 over years, this country has been led by UMNO, all the prime ministers are UMNOs, NEP was established by UMNO for bumis, and all the POLICIES to help bumis hve been running for how many years?………….and you wanna put the blame of unequal wealth distribution on someone else other then UMNO??
amazing.
41. sheon | November 6th, 2008 at 12:03 pm

WOOHOO! OBAMA!
50. carol | November 7th, 2008 at 3:35 am
this is indeed mind-boggling. no name troll, have you been living under the proverbial coconut shell/bottom of the well for the past 51 years?
equality of distribution of wealth? fine, go live in Cuba. Otherwise, work, like every other common, hardworking person for your money. What do you want, free handouts? To just laze around and expect money to come to you?
equality of job opportunity in the private sector? prove yourself a worthy candidate and people will have no reason to not hire you.
wake up!
51. Ren | November 7th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
After Obama won
our PM crap again =..=
minority to be PM in malaysia?

For you all aspiring Electrical Engineering students out there, without a ongoing war, by the time you gradute there would not be any EE job for you. Happended to me in 1990 as the cold war ended, defence cut, the market was saturated with experienced EE laid off from defence contractor. For private sector, American citizen comes first. Also, since defence contractor only hire US citizen, by the time you graduate, the job pool for non-resident will shrink. I know it's a selfish thought, but that is the reality.
