London Is
December 21st, 2008
… gorgeous.
updates soon, when i find time and buy an SD card reader so i can upload pictures :)
tomorrow, i’m going to the oh so famous Four Seasons roast duck in bayswater with tamtim. excitement! let’s see now if it’s really as good as the rumors declare. better than roast duck in hong kong, some say, but i meet that claim with much skepticism. but then see how lah. i am prepared to be taken by surprise!
i also will be getting my UK phone number tomorrow; so, fellow friends in the UK whom i have yet to call, i beg for your patience! do not take this as a sign that i love you not – it is the roaming charges that have backed me to the wall. roaming charges, as we all know, can be most unkind.
interesting london fact of the day: they have marmite flavored potato chips here. marmite.

MARMITE?
4. ShaolinTiger | December 21st, 2008 at 1:16 am
We have every flavour crisps, you should try Worcester sauce flavour – pay some respect to my home town :)
You should also go to Wong Kei in China Town to experience the worst service and rudest waiters in the world (food is cheap too).
So many museums and galleries to see! The London Eye is ok, but London horizon is quite flat – not that much to see.
Do have as many full English Breakfast as possible!

8. lydia | December 21st, 2008 at 3:13 am
after having crisps (not chips! chips = fries in england), nothing tastes better. sigh.
9. Dan | December 21st, 2008 at 4:14 am
I’m afraid you’re 2 years too late Pink Pau, there was a great revolt in Four Seasons and the chef’s changed. It’s pale in comparison to what it used to be.
If you want some decent roast duck, walk down the street to The Gold Mine , just a few stops below.
Honestly :)

hello! i’m your regular-reader-but-rather-irregular commenter. i’m a malaysian; based near london myself and would have loved to play host. unfortunately i’m going away for christmas myself. how long r u in london yourself?
i do hope you have a lovely christmas in london. it’s fairly cold this winter, so wrap up gal. don’t miss the christmas sales on boxing day. they’re usually the rave here….. people queue up in front of Next from wee hours in the morning, just to get some good bargains.
30. Bernard | December 23rd, 2008 at 2:40 pm
WTF U DIN CALL ME!. btw. try Gold Mine too. the supposed Four Seasons chef shifted there, and also go to the one in Bayswater. Not Chinatown. Gold Mine and Four Seasons are like 4 5 shops from each other.
As Nicole said, go to Manchester for dimsum too. This shop called Pacific in Chinatown.
If you want Bak kut teh, come Nottingham, i cook for you ;)
31. Lydia | December 23rd, 2008 at 6:04 pm
Hello Suann! I hope that you will have an amazingggggg time in London.
And yes, I agree with Nicole and Bernard, do drop by Pacific in Manchester for the dimsum, you will not regret it I assure you! If you need directions or anything, I will be here! xx
32. rachel chin | December 23rd, 2008 at 11:34 pm

33. rachel chin | December 23rd, 2008 at 11:36 pm
oh yeah, if you want quite good dimsum (better quality than chinatown one la at least.. and tastes better. the one in chinatown is quite icky..).. go to yauatcha somewhere around oxford st. its a bit expensive, but its worth it :)
34. yitian | December 24th, 2008 at 12:42 am
hello, this is a reader from Singapore [:
how about wonderful Japanese food? there’s this great Jap restaurant called Koi near Hyde Park (walking distance from High Street Kensington) that sells one of the best Jap food in London. just came back from London and it was wonderful. I miss it already as it is. a tad pricey though, it was 150 quid for five.
35. sheon | December 24th, 2008 at 2:30 am

You are so cute, I wish to take u as my 2nd wife
Anyway
Wishing you and your families a very happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
I am looking forward to a challenging but exciting 2009, when I will be encouraging us all to do whatever we can to support each other, in all that we do across the World. In this regard, I would welcome your individual thoughts early in the New Year, on how we can best support each other moving forward and what changes you would like to see, in order to facilitate that improvement.
Warmest regards and a big thank you to everyone for your efforts in 2008.

42. pomps | December 25th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
you are irresistibly cute.
43. melissa | December 26th, 2008 at 9:27 am
there’re charity stores all over london – red cross, cancer research, oxfam, just to name a few. depending on the area you’re in (e.g.: mayfair), you’ll get a different variety of things. :)
44. LJY | December 26th, 2008 at 11:23 am
hahaha! i was at four seasons just a couple of days ago when I was still in london!
it wasn’t that great to be honest =P
some restaurants in malaysia are definitely better
if you’re still in london, there’s a chinese restaurant on Earl’s Court Road that served the BEST egg tarts evER. all their dimsum is freshly cooked upon order. how weird right? =P but that makes the food delicious!
it’s called something dynasty something… if you take the train, either picadilly or district, and come out on earl’s court road, (the left would be a convenience shop by the name of buy best) cross the road and turn right. just walk along, it’s one of the restaurants along the row..
anyhoo! merry christmas!
45. Chee Wei | January 1st, 2009 at 8:19 am
not too sure if you are still here haha…hyde park is the one with fun fair and all..there many others in the cities but i guess most have ended now.
