so i was sitting at a coffee shop (Willoughby's) minding my own business and doing my reading when three guys dressed in suits sat down at the table next to me. this one guy in particular kept turning his head and staring at me, and i distinctly remember feeling really annoyed and uncomfortable. there was belligerence, and indignance and an impulsive desire to get up and ask him "why do you keep looking at me? that's really rude!".

before i could compose my words, the barista strolled over with a cookie in hand, and handed it to the guy, who high-fived her in return. as they both exchanged their secret handshake and knowing smiles, i realized that he had Down-Syndrome's; mild as it may be.

just a reminder that people are still real and life is eternally stirring -- be you at Columbia, the US or Malaysia.

Good luck for finals, Su Ann. You can do it!
