Hi there. I'm a Kuchingnite working in an architecture firm in HK. Since I don't know what field you're in, your best bet for employment in HK is via a recruitment agency ie. headhunters. You don't pay for their services as your potential empoyer pays for the agent's fees. However, due to the nature of your employment ie. internship, you're looking for something part time (I'm assuming 3 months summer holidays) and close to no pay. Therefore I foresee two problems: working visa and living expenses. In order for you to legally work in HK, you need a working visa. To get it you need a sponsor ie. your employer. They would pay for the visa and handle the application. If you get past this stage and find an employer that would sponsor your application for 3 months then there's the living expenses. As an intern you would not be looking at much pay. It would be termed as allowances as if it was salary then you would have tio pay taxes pro rata, which is annoying paperwork for the employer. You're looking at about 30 percent of what a full time post-grad employee would get. Depending on your field, you're looking at HKD3000 to HKD10000 a month for interns. Don't get me wrong, it's quite a lot compared to what you get back in Malaysia. However, considering living costs in HK, you would spend the bulk of the money in rent, which at the cheapest would be HKD3000 for a studio flat in the New Territories, which would mean you're spending about 1 hour commuting to get to the island where most big companies are, to about HKD10000 a month on rental for a studio flat in HK island, where everything is happening. I can put you in touch with some recruitment agencies if you wanna try it out. But my advice is to let me know what specific field you're interested in, and I'll see if we can sort something out for you directly. Hope this helps.
