Elusive 4.0
May 9th, 2010
my last final paper of the semester is due in two hours, and i’m something like 4 pages short of the minimum page requirement and about 20 pages short of a kick ass paper. so i’ve kind of given up. no wonder at all that my grade point average will never converge to a 4.0. but you know, sometimes i think it could, if i would just stop procrastinating, start getting on my shit a little earlier, and learn how to focus during crunch times like these. but what have i been doing in the past two hours? scrolling through facebook photos of people i miss. watching snippets of my favourite movies on netflix (for inspiration, konon). listening to the elephant love medley over and over again, and howling “WE COULD BE HEROES! just for one day…!” on my friends’ walls. logging into FRIENDSTER and curiously looking at old photos of old friends. reading about the Official Monster Raving Loony Party of the UK. researching places to visit in Rome (i’m leaving tomorrow!). dissolving into fits of giggles at arthur’s facebook status asking quite seriously how to say seal in Malay — the funniest answer being “encik heidi klum”. trying to figure out which HK star it is that martian’s friend adrian looks like. resuming my lifelong quest to find a “right song” for each of my best friends; so far only joe has a song, and it’s obviously the sound of silence by S&G. trying to finish my letter of polished sarcasm to our beloved Home Minister, about the exact shade of pink i got my toenails done in when my bag was snatched outside my house and the bounce in my mom’s freshly pressed curls when the cops told her to ‘balik tongsan’ when she went to lodge a report about her own mugging. walking one too many times over to starbucks for coffee refills. trying to get my desktop background image of a very sexy brigitte bardot to just the right shade of black and white… and all sorts of other frivolous things. life is so much more fun this way! omg will this paper just write itself already?
… WE COULD BE HEROES! forever and EVER!

agreed. i’m reading about polymaths, the united states of apocalypse, watching bones, reading food blogs, watching comedy court, theorizing about better white chocolate chip cookies, raiding the chocolate drawer, jotting down ideas, fretting about the driving test i’ve already failed once… ANYTHING BUT STUDYING FOR MY A-LEVELS.

i know, that’s what everyone thinks! and i used to believe that too. but methinks it’s probably more to do with people generally preferring milk/dark to white

I’m reading about Scheherazade, poems, Haruki Murakami, blogs; eating tau foo fah, and thinking about SPCA when I should be studying for my Alevels maths exam. It’s on Wednesday. Fear needs to kick me in the ass right NOW.
But go Su Ann! Write that letter to the Home Minister!
And Rome. Rome oh Rome. Have lots of fun!

I should be attempting to finish my Holocaust and Bio Psychology assignments but sometimes, I just don’t feel like I shouldn’t give two damns and imbibe myself with images of Ian Somerhalder…

Being a junkie is wayyy more fun than an organized study life. My peers always say: Facebook is the devil. Oh crap, as I’m writing this, I have stuff coming up too! Biochemistry, microbiology and bioethics assignments lol. I lived a relatively carefree life during my A levels, and yet I obtained a scholarship to study in a prestigious university. The best student has his life, and enjoys playing too, not the nerdy kind of people we stereotype to be.

Be careful in Rome – I got my passport stolen there. :( On a brighter note, I think the best gelato in the world is to be had at this place called Old Bridge in Vatican City, opposite the Sistine Chapel, which is occasionally manned by a Mandarin-speaking Italian man.
and elephant love medley is epic stuff!
today I wasted my time staring at matrices and waiting for them to magically condense to single digits, ate too much smoked salmon and am currently ignoring my notes that are calling out to me to be filed in nice organized piles.

story time: wife got pick pocketed, went to police station to make report. came out, husband wallet gone while making report!
moral of the story: be careful of pickpockets & gypsies
HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Part of me misses University but when I hear about the revision frenzy and due term papers it makes me be glad to be free :D Though I guess in my own little way the last minute cram and hitting dead lines got the adrenaline going and were a precious part of college life :P
Love your procrastination method. For me Stumbleupon and Tumblr were worst than FBook!
/hugs
