About Quaintly.net

THE DOMAIN

Quaintly.net was launched on the 1st of January 2006. I have been blogging since October 2001 in various private domains prior. Quaintly.net has been tinted pink since it was launched, and the reason it is so is to diminish public aversion towards the color. It will likely remain so until I get around to designing a new layout. The sassy lookin’ girl at the top of this blog is Elisha Cuthbert.

Quaintly.net is not any particular kind of blog. It’s just a blog of a 21 year old girl studying in New York who occasionally goes home to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and has long distance relationships with various countries in the world. My style and topics of choice fluctuate as the years go by, as does my writing frequency. If you’ve been reading my blog for a long time, I thank you for your patience in watching me grow. If you’re new to the blog, welcome, and I applaud your attention span in this era of skimming the written word.

Quaintly.net publishes paid advertorials from time to time. These are denoted by the prefix of ‘ADV’ in the post’s title. Click here for samples of advertorials. If you would like to propose an advertorial, do email me at quitequaintly(at)gmail(dot)com. I do not accept all proposed advertorials or rates, but I’m definitely a listener. Advertorials have been written for: Hallmark, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, LG, Levis, Maxis, Celcom, Ogawa, Darlie, Oreo, McDonalds, Kraft, Singapore Tourism Board, Guinness, Hennessy, Ribena, Lipton, and Mister Potato.

Quaintly.net is hosted by the awesome and very kind Whei Meng.

THE CATEGORIES

Musings – my most personal (and almost always) more ambiguous writings. t’is the core of my blog

Unsent Letters – things i write to people without telling them

Photos – the more photo-heavy posts

Travel – posts that contain my wanderlust. frequently they are more reflective than informative, but sometimes when i feel like it i do compile travel guides to the cities i know well enough

Food – a collection of food and restaurant reviews, also very sporadically updated

Rants – whenever i’m incoherently angry. rants are rare on my blog because over time i’ve learned that one can’t always afford to unleash fury on the internet

People – written tributes to the people i adore

Martianisms – posts about Martian

Martian Invasion – the few posts that Martian wrote on my blog

College Life – updates on my shenanigans at college, an institution somewhere in New York City, from which i will be graduating in 2012

New York City – my new home of four years. i really wish i had the energy to write more about this amazing city, but it moves so quickly and is so hard to capture

What I Got in the Mail – a chronicling of the wonderful and surprising things that friends, family and strangers send me in the post. it is an ongoing project that is extremely backlogged and requires immediate resuscitation

Events – a scrapbooking of events that i attend. i don’t often write about the events that i attend, so this category is updated only when necessary or if i feel like sharing pictures

Memes – the questionnaires, quizzes and 100 Random Things About You sort of curios

Advertorial – paid and sponsored posts

Reviews – almost a dead category. it’s where i place book or movie reviews when i do find the time to write these opinions down

US Apps Advice – updated when i have new advice to give, which isn’t often, and persists as a category only out of convenience

General contains everything that doesn’t fit in anywhere else, or the stuff that i forget to categorize. the bulk of my blog.

Quaintly.net

Quaintly is how I'd like to live my life, which would be quite like a movie, or a mellow book. This blog eschews capitalization because it is irrelevant unless used for proper nouns; but sometimes even when used for proper nouns, it is irrelevant as well.
